My name is Brian Kelly. I'm based at UKOLN at the University where I work as a national Web adviser to the UK's higher and further education and cultural heritage communities.

I have been blogging since November 2006. And in this series of video blog posts I'd like to share with you some of my thoughts on effective blogging.

Why do I blog? Well my blog is now my main dissemination channel, which enables me to communicate my thoughts, my ideas, my opinions to a large audience.

I also blog to receive feedback on my ideas. I welcome comments on my posts and the responses I've received have helped to improve and refine my ideas.

And sometimes I use my blog to 'think out loud' - to muse on speculative ideas that might be inappropriate to raise in a more formal context.

These are some of the reasons why I blog. Why do you blog?
